Our Tobacco

Our domestic grown tobacco is the freshest and cleanest available. We are involved in every step of the process from planting to packaging. Each leaf is hand inspected and categorized based on quality and strength.

The seeds are very small and are coated so the machine can place them in those trays. 288 seeds per tray you see to the left.

There are 1000 trays here so that is 288,000 plants! And that is just one run. It takes 120 days to be fully grown and ready to be hand picked.

Our Air cured leaf is dried in the barn in the open air. There is three levels of leaves in this barn. Sometimes they have to be rotated to get that nice brown color to it. Most of this leaf goes to twists.

Much like fish camp our fire cured leaves are cured using cold smoke. As you can see the barn is filled and then closely monitored. Sometimes overnighting nearby is needed to keep it from catching fire. This is the source for Daphnes Strong Arm and Smoke House Fire leaves.

Each leaf that comes in from the fields is then graded for filler or wrapper quality. This is for the twist and long leaf tobacco.
